Celluloid E Bangabondhu
“Celluloid e Bangabandhu” is an annual program jointly organized by the Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) and Bangladesh Film Archive to commemorate the death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation.
On August 15, 1975, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated along with most of his family members in his own residence. Bangladesh has been observing 15th August, his death anniversary, as a day of mourning. DUFS exhibits infographics and artwork on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at TSC compound. Rare videographs, films of historical importance, recorded at various stages of Bangabandhu’s life are screened at TSC auditorium.
World Film Manifestation Programme
World Film Manifestation Programme is the longest running film screening event of DUFS. The goal of the program is to screen films of different time, country of origin, language for the audience of our country. WFMP was initiated all the way back in 2000 by DUFS.
Sunday German Bangla Film Screening
Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS), in cooperation with Goethe Institut, organizes Sunday German Bangla Film Screening. This program has been a regular collaboration between DUFS and Goethe Institut which is held on the last Sunday of every month. A Bangladeshi Short film and a german film is screened in every edition of this event.

On 14 december DUFS commemorates the Martyred Intellectuals Day. The family members of martyred intellectuals’ join the event and share their experiences with the audience.
On 15 december, the eve of Victory day is celebrated with joyful acclaims. sky lanterns are released as a symbol of freedom.
On 16 december, the Victory Day of Bangladesh, an open film screening is held at TSC. Films on the liberation war of Bangladesh are screened.
Film Appreciation Course
Dhaka University film society organizes film appreciation course regularly.
Film appreciation means to read and understand a cinema with utmost delicacy. The course is organized in such way that the attendees are enlightened about the basics of film language, film aesthetics, script, storytelling etc. Renowned film academician, activist and filmmakers facilitate the course.
The last film appreciation course by DUFS was held on 10-13 December, 2018.
DUFS organizes film workshops regularly. The scarcity of film education in bangladesh is evident. DUFs aims to create a generation of educated filmmakers by providing Basic film education at low cost. Renowned film academicians, filmmakers and film activists teaches the courses on the workshops.The participants recieve certificate at the end of the workshop.
DUFS regularly arrange study circle on various film related topics. An specialised personnel on the given topic is invited to hold a discussion session. The study circle is open for all.
